She Speaks

Sister, You Got Next

If you know me, you know I love football. I don’t really have a favorite team because I enjoy watching them all. But one of the things I love most is when God gives me a different perspective, a soul point of view, from something I witness.

Recently, I was watching the Chicago Bears, and what I saw reminded me of a powerful lesson about preparation, patience, purpose, and timing.

There was a quarterback who had not started a game in years. He wasn’t the first person called. He wasn’t even the second. But then, opportunity came. Injuries happened, and suddenly, he was up next. As I watched, I couldn’t help but think, “This is the message.”

Sometimes we become frustrated because our name hasn’t been called yet. We watch other people receive the opportunities, positions, recognition, platforms, promotions, and invitations we have been praying and preparing for. We begin to wonder, “God, when is it going to be my turn?”

But what if your waiting season isn’t a season of rejection?

What if it is a season of preparation? Your name may not be called today, but that does not mean it won’t be called tomorrow.

The question is: Will you be ready when it is?

While you are waiting, keep learning. Keep growing. Keep working. Keep showing up. Keep doing what you have been called to do. Continue developing the skills, character, confidence, and relationships that will prepare you for the opportunity you have been praying for.

Because when your opportunity comes, you don’t want to have to get ready. You want to already be ready.

I Am in a Season of Receiving

I can personally say that I am in a season of receiving, and I am grateful.

I am receiving opportunities. I am receiving positions. I am receiving invitations. I am receiving connections. I am receiving things I prayed about, as well as things I didn’t even know to ask for.

And I believe some of this is happening because I have continued to do what I know I am called to do—even when my name wasn’t being called.

I know my purpose. I know my why. And most importantly, I know who I am doing it for.

That understanding has allowed me to stop worrying about someone else’s timing. I don’t have to compete with another woman’s opportunity. I don’t have to question why her door opened before mine.

Her timing is hers. My timing is mine. And I believe my timing is in God’s hands. So, while I wait on God, I work. I prepare while I wait. I serve while I wait. I grow while I wait. I believe while I wait.

Waiting does not mean sitting still. Sometimes waiting is the most active season of all because it is where God is preparing you for what comes next.

Your Turn Is Coming

Maybe you are in a season where you feel overlooked. Maybe you’ve been doing the work but haven’t received the recognition. Maybe you’ve watched someone else step into the position you wanted. Maybe you’ve applied, auditioned, interviewed, volunteered, served, created, built, and showed up, and you’re still wondering when someone is going to notice.

I want to encourage you: don’t stop. Don’t allow someone else’s opportunity to make you question your own. Don’t allow someone else’s promotion to convince you that you have been forgotten. Don’t allow the waiting to make you abandon the work.

Your name may be called sooner than you think. And when it is, you want to be able to step forward with confidence because you know you’ve been preparing for this moment all along.

The quarterback didn’t get the opportunity because he suddenly became ready. He was ready because he had continued preparing even when he wasn’t the one on the field. That is the lesson.

STAY READY

Your opportunity may come through an unexpected door. It may happen at a time you didn’t anticipate. It may come because someone else wasn’t available. It may come because circumstances changed.

Whatever the reason, when your moment arrives, you need to be ready to say, “I’m prepared.”

So, What Are You Preparing For?

I want you to think about that question today.

What are you preparing for while you wait?

What have you been praying about?

What opportunity are you hoping will come?

What skill are you developing?

What dream are you still working toward?

What assignment do you know you have been called to complete?

Don’t just wait for your turn. Prepare for your turn.

And when your name is called, don’t shrink. Don’t hesitate. Don’t talk yourself out of it. Don’t convince yourself that you aren’t qualified because you weren’t the first person selected.

Get up. Take your place. Walk through the door. You’ve been preparing for this. Your preparation has been intentional. Your purpose is still valid. Your waiting has not been wasted.

So today, I want you to declare:

I AM NEXT.
I AM READY.
I AM RECEIVING.
I AM WALKING IN MY PURPOSE.

And if you believe your name is going to be called, don’t keep it to yourself. Tell someone. Write it down. Speak it over yourself. Then go back to work. Because your opportunity is coming.

And when they call your name, I hope you are ready to answer:

“I’m up.”

Your season may be closer than you think. THAT’S MY SOUL POINT OF VIEW
